Richard H. Steck

Richard H. Steck, 88, of 7 Lang Lane, Lewis Run, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014, at Hamot Medical Center in Erie.

Born June 28, 1925 in Degolia, he was a son of the late Leonard and  Louise (O'Neil) Steck.

On June 26, 1948 he married Lola (English) Steck who died July 13, 1976, then on April 30, 1977 he married Hope (Fargo) Steck who died December 16, 2005.

Mr. Steck attended Bradford Area Schools. He enlisted in the United States Army on November 15, 1943 and served during WWII. He received the American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, Meritorious Unit Award World War II Victory Ribbon and the Army Occupation Medal Germany. He was honorably discharged on April 28, 1946.

He had been employed at Dresser Manufacturing for 39 years, and retired as a supervisor.

He was a former member of the Bradford Eagles Club, and the Pine Acres Country Club.

Surviving are two daughters, Vickie  Culver, of Lewis Run, and Martha Holly, of Bradford, two step daughters, Ceceil Magoon, of Bradford, and  Marlene Ackley, of SC, a step son, Tim Ruth of SC, a sister, Shirley  McManigle, of Bradford, two brothers, Wayne Steck, of Lewis Run and Dean Steck, of Timbuck, 9 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, six sisters, Alice Bizzaro, Marion Steinhauser, Mary Lou Hall, Norma Steck, Donna Roeder and Ellen E. Keller, three brothers, Bruce Steck, Tom Steck and Rodney "Herk" Steck.

Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, July 1, 2014, from 11:00am to Noon. in the  Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave., at which time funeral and committal services will be held at Noon with Rev. Larry Corner, Pastor of the Evans Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.
