Richard M. Sherman

Richard M. Sherman, 88, of 21 Lawton Road, Bradford, passed away Saturday, May 2, 2015, at Olean General Hospital.

Born February 16, 1926 in Bradford he was a son of the late Frederick and Arlene Doris (Fritz) Sherman.

On July 19, 1947 in Salamanca, NY, he married Virginia M. (Springer) Sherman, who died on August 18, 1990.

He was a 1945 graduate of Bradford High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy, served during WWII, he was honorably discharged.

He worked for Wilson Refrigeration then he started Sherman Refrigeration which he operated for many years.

He was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church, the American Legion Post 108, Bradford Union Lodge 749 F&AM, Coudersport Consistory, McKean County Shrine Club.

He is survived by two daughters, Gloria J. (Lee) Eliason, Donna R. (Tom) Sutley, and a son, Richard W. Sherman, all of Bradford, 6 grandchildren, Randy Sherman, Tyler Sherman, Max Sutley, Eric (Connie) Eliason and Michelle L. Eliason, five great grandchildren, Sarah Eliason, Hannah Eliason, Lucas Eliason, Brittany (Evan Luciano) Falconi, and Madeline Brown, one great great grandson Blake Luciano, one brother Gary Sherman and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a son, Michael Sherman two sisters Doris Mealy and Annabelle Irons, two brothers Frederick and Jack Sherman.

Family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 33 South Ave. and again on Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:00am in the Foursquare Gospel Church at which time funeral and committal services will be held with Rev. Matthew McDonald co-pastor, officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park. Members of Bradford Union Lodge #749 F&AM will conduct a Masonic service at 7:00pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
