Harold M. Koelbel

Harold M. Koelbel, 87, of 2 Burke Ave., Bradford, passed away, Wednesday, February 3, 2016, surrounded by his loving family, at The Pavilion at BRMC.

Born in Muskegon, MI on December 13, 1928, he was a son of the late Walter and Mabel (Sauve) Koelbel.

He attended Morgan Park Military Academy. In 1946 he graduated from Muskegon High School. Later he attended Colorado University, and graduated in 1952 from Aquinas College in Grand Rapids MI.

On August 8, 1953 in Muskegon MI, he married Joy (Gorlesky) Koelbel who died August 30, 1996.

On January 29, 1953 he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He attended Army Business School in Indianapolis IN and was assigned to Inchon Korea in 1953. He was honorably discharged on December 17, 1954.

Mr. Koelbel's industrial career covering over 50 years, included staff positions with Brunswick Corp., Clark Equipment Company, Dresser Manufacturing. He retired from Peerless-Winsmith Inc. in 2005.

He was a member of St. Bernard Church and the YMCA.

Surviving are four daughters, Terri Koelbel of Bradford, Debra Williams of Virginia Beach VA, Tamara (Greg) Hills of Charlotte NC, and Jacqueline (Michael) Simpson of Pittsburgh, three sons, Mark (Pam) Koelbel of Salt Lake City UT, Daniel (Donna Knoth) Koelbel of Bradford, and Russell (Heidi) Koelbel of Baltimore MD, 14 grandchildren and one great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one brother, and three sisters.

Family will be receiving friends on Monday, February 8, 2016 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Ave., Bradford.

Friends are also invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at St. Bernard Church, with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as Celebrant. Full Military Honors and committal services will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorials, if desired, may be made to the YMCA.
