All Condolences -

I will never forget this great guy. Worked with him at Walmart and when he would come in to shop I always enjoyed seeing him .. I'm so sorry for your loss Sandy and I'm sure he will be sadly missed by his family and friends. Praying for the whole family to be at peace after losing this great guy.

I just learned of Charles’s passing and I want to offer Sandy, and his family, my heartfelt condolences. If I may reminisce for a moment, I remember Charles as having a remarkable war history (three tours in a war zone). As with so many of the veterans from the Vietnam War, Charles never fully recovered from his time in combat. This, along with his history of chronic physical dilemmas (many due to damage from shrapnel and bomb explosions), suggests the integrity and strength in this man and soldier. The great Athenian statesman and philosopher Pericles once wrote that a legacy is “what you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.” I think of Charles in this way.

My thoughts and prayers are with you Sandy and the rest of the family!! I had the joy of working with Chuckles at wal-mart. I was working closing in the deli and he was overnights. He always had a joke or some quick wit or a life story to share! It is so hard to believe he is gone. I had my daughter help him about a week ago in Walmart to find some gauze bandages. He will be greatly missed by many!!!

We live at opposite ends of the country, so it's been a long time... The last time I saw Uncle Charles, we went on a rafting trip in CO. At one point he threw his oar up behind my back to protect me from a rocky outcropping. That's who he was, quick, strong, and willing to protect those he cared for.

I am posting this from my dear friend, another patriot, who also served in VN. May the Angels in Heaven shelter him with Grace... Safe journey my brother. All the best, Jim & Diane

I had the privilege of working with Chuck at Wal-Mart from 2002-2006. We bonded, especially when sharing our similar political views. I also salute him for his service to our country. He even did some roof work for us at our old house. He was a great man, and will be sorely missed. Word had gotten around that Chuck had passed away 3 or 4 years ago. Imagine my elation when I bumped into him at Wal-Mart one day, alive and kickin'! Seeing him made my year! I will never forget that day. Rest in Peace, my friend.
