Bernard A. Lechiara

Bernard A. Lechiara, 90, formerly of 1141 South Ave., passed away, Wednesday, March 23, 2016, at Lakeview Senior Care & Living Center in Smethport.

Born May 12, 1925, in Bradford he was a son of the late Anthony and Catherine (Ross) Lechiara.

In February of 1951, he married Dorothy H. (Shannon) Lechiara, who passed away January 5, 2004.

Mr. Lechiara attended Bradford Schools. On August 20, 1943, he enlisted in the United States Army, served during WW II and was honorably discharged on April 3, 1946. He returned home and worked as a mechanic at Beckwith Machine Shop. He later drove a dump truck for a time and then started his own business, Bernie's Garage at 1141 South Ave. where he did collision repair and restored antique cars.

He was a member of the American Legion.

Mr. Lechiara is survived by several nieces and nephews including, Jim (Betty) Lechiara and Dave (Barb) Lechiara and Marjorie Kroah, all of Bradford, and several grand nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a daughter, Darcine Lechiara, three sisters Gloria T. McEniry, Margaret Lechiara and Barbara Seeker; three brothers, Thomas J. , Benito D. and Samuel R. Lechiara.

Friends may call from 1-2 PM, Wednesday, March 30, 2016 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., South Ave., where funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM with Rev Raymond Gramata officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery with full military honors accorded. 

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.
