Thomas C. Hendryx

Thomas C. Hendryx, 91, of 27 Edgewood Road, Bradford, passed away Monday October 17, 2016, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born December 15, 1924, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Thomas K. and Frances (Crawford) Hendryx.

On June 19, 1948, in the Rectory of St. Bernard Church, he married Pauline A. (Cassick) Hendryx, who died on September 29, 2012.

Mr. Hendryx was a 1942 graduate of Bradford High School. After high school he attended the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics and received both his Airframe & Power Plant Mechanics License, and Private Pilot Certificate.

He returned to work with his father, T.K. Hendryx, and served his apprenticeship at T.K. Hendryx  & Associates Architects. Together they designed the 1950 construction project of the Bradford Hospital. Then he went to  work at W.O. Kessel Company, Bradley Builders in Olean, Micale Construction. He then went out on his own as a Construction & Design Consultant and worked on the First Presbyterian Church, Union Square, Bradford Forest Products, Werzalit, Dr. Sosic Office, the Suzzallo Medical Arts Building, The Alcove Restaurant and the Castle Restaurant and many other projects.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Eagles Club, National Ski Patrol for over 30 years and served as trainer and Section Chief of Southwestern New York for several years.

Surviving is one daughter, Judy Cameron, of Bradford, three sons Dr. Jan T. Hendryx , of Erie, Jeff J. (Tina) Hendryx, of Marshburg, and Gary Hendryx, of Bradford, 13 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and one niece. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son Gregg Hendryx, a granddaughter Alissa Cameron, one son in law Donald Cameron, one brother Robert Hendryx.

Family will be receiving friends on Thursday October 20, 2016 from 2 to 4pm  & 6 to 8pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave. and again on Friday from 10:00am to 11:00am in the First Presbyterian Church, where funeral and committal services will be held at 11:00am with Rev Rob Klouw officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
