Frances E. Rote, 96, formerly of 18 S. 4th St., passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016, at The Pavilion at BRMC.

Born July 30, 1920, in Betula, she was a daughter of the late John and Rose (Zigmond) Komidar. 

On September 23, 1939, she married Joseph Simsick, who preceded her in death.  On June 17, 1995, she then married Matthew Rote, who also preceded her in death. 

She was a graduate of Kane High School and also graduated from Pauline's Beauty Academy in DuBois in 1940. 

She was a member of St. Elizabeth Church in Smethport. 

In later years, she and her second husband were members of the Sylvania Club in Gowanda, NY.  They were avid accordian players and played at different events around the area and enjoyed gardening.  

Surviving is one grandson, Robert Bly and two great grandsons Colton Bly and Cody Bly all of Derrick City. She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, and two daughters Linda Simsick and Nancy L. Bly.

Private graveside services will be in  St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Smethport. 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
