Roger E. Stanford

Roger E. Stanford, 65, of Lewis Run passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at UPMC Hamot Medical Center in Erie. 

Born April 14, 1951 in Santa Monica, CA, he was the son of the late Loretta (Zeigler) Stanford and George E. Stanford, who survives. 

On February 10, 1996 in Cheektowaga, NY,  he married Rita (Gredzicki) Stanford, who survives. 

He was a 1969 graduate of Bradford Area High School.  He then served in the U.S. Navy. 

After the Navy, he attended technical school for automotive mechanics in California, where he began his career as an Automotive Technician, specializing in converting Volkswagen Beetles into Dune Buggies and fabricating race cars. 

He returned to Bradford in 1977 continued his career, working at various shops around the community until his retirement. 

He loved racing, building race cars and was a motorcycle enthusiast.  He loved animals and rescuing dogs.  In his retirement, he developed a passion for carpentry and gardening. 

In addition to his father, George Stanford of Bradford, he is survived by two sisters, Cheri L. (Michael) English, of John's Creek, GA and Judy K. (Mark)  Sievert, of Green Bay, WI and eight nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Linda Sue Stanford, in infancy. 

Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Roger's Life from 5-8 PM, Friday, December 2, 2016 at  Togi's Blue Room.  Memorial contributions, if desired, can be made to The Wounded Warrior Project, secure.uso.org or PO Box 96860, Washington, D.C., 20077-7677, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
