Violet  Frances Sweetapple, 93, formerly of 11 Leigh St., passed away, Monday December 12, 2016 at Sena Kean Manor.  

Born August 14, 1923, in Clearfield, she was a daughter of the late Nicola and Anna Chiarenza.

She was a 1942 graduate of Bradford High School. She enlisted in the U.S. Army after High School and was honorably discharged in 1944.  

On June 23, 1947 in Bradford, she married Willis H. Sweetapple Jr., who passed away September 8, 2001.  

Mrs. Sweetapple was a housekeeper for many years for several local families.  She then worked at Bradford Hospital in Central Supply until her retirement in 1997. 

She raised her family in St. Bernard Church and later attended the Jehovah Witness.  

She is survived by  a son, Gary (Jan) Sweetapple, of Troy, MI and two daughters, Kathy Sweetapple, of California and Merrie Sweetapple, of Bradford, four grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Augustine Chiarenza and a sister, Frances DeSalvo.  

Family will be receiving friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Thursday December 15, 2016 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 372 East Main St.., where funeral and committal services will be held at 1:00pm with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor of St. Bernard Church, officiating. Burial will in Willow Dale Cemetery.
