I remember that well and I remember he taught my brother and sister too a decade prior - probably used the same nickname for my sister perhaps. Coach Pomroy was a special teacher and mentor in my life. His influence remained with me all my life and will never be forgotten. He had a great humorous wit about him and really knew how to relate to his students.

I had Mr. Pomroy for gym class my senior year, 1982-83. It just so happened to be the year I spent 7 months in a cast or splint with a broken left arm, the X-Rays of which made their way through all of the health classes with all of the plates and screws included. Since I was sidelined, Mr. Pomroy put me to work as his gopher / lackey/ messenger during gym periods. As it turned out, this skinny little runt got his first-ever A’s for Phys-Ed in Ed Pomroy’s gym class. I’ll never forget his compassion, kindness, or sense of humor. He will never be forgotten.

I remember hearing about him as a young kid from my father & uncle who played for and were taught by him in the early 70's. To have him as a health and phys ed teacher 20 years later was truly a honor. You knew where you stood with him, but always treated nicely and fairly. He's an icon.
