Robert J. Forquer

Robert J. Forquer, 79, formerly of 2 South Avenue, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at The Pavilion at BRMC.

Born June 15, 1937 in Kane, he was a son of the late John William and Altie Viola (Rook) Forquer.

He attended schools in Mt. Jewett and enlisted in the U.S. Navy on August 24, 1954.  He served on the USS Tarawa and was honorably discharged on August 1, 1958 with the rank of Airman Apprentice.  

He graduated from Orra Jean Barber School in Erie in 1960. 

He worked for Plex-o-wood in Bradford for a time and retired. 

He was a volunteer at BRMC for many years and also enjoyed attending the Bradford Senior Center.  He participated in the Golden Age Games at the Veteran's Center in Canandaigua, NY and loved to travel, play the slots and cards. 

He is survived by four children, Paula (Robin Copley) Platko, of Sheffield, R. Shaun Forquer, Stephen (Donna Graves) Forquer and Andrea (Michael) Yehl, all of Bradford; four grandchildren, Matthew (Hannah) Platko, Jillian Platko, Alicia (Jeremie) Sipko and Nicholas Forquer and two great grandchildren, Jackie Sipko and Breyden Sipko. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Evan Michael Yehl on May 2, 2008 and a brother, Lester Forquer. 

Friends are invited to call from 3-4 PM, Monday,  January 23, 2017 in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., South Avenue, where a memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, with Rev. Seth McClymonds, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery. 

Memorials, if desired, can be made to The Shriner's Hospital in Erie, The American Cancer Society, The Activity Fund at the Pavilion at BRMC or the charity of the donor's choice.
