Alberta J. Johnston

Alberta J. Johnston, 88, of 1144 East Main Street, passed away Saturday, March 11, 2017 at Bradford Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family. 

Born June 27, 1928 in Franklinville, NY, she was a daughter of the late Norman E. and Lena M. (Boyers) Bennett.

On June 4, 1954 in Custer City United Methodist Church, she married Howard K. Johnston, who survives. 

Alberta attended Custer City Schools and graduated from Bradford High School in 1946. 

Mrs. Johnston worked for Quaker State Oil, Bell Telephone and as a secretary at The Bradford Area School District. 

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she participated in the Quilting Group and was also a member of the Christian Women's Group. 

In addition to her husband Howard of 62 years, she is survived by a daughter, Janell (Scott) Farrell;  two sons Bennett (Kimberly) Johnston and Craig (Jean) Johnston, all of Bradford; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; two sisters, Rose Prior, of Dublin OH, Margaret Carlquist, of Ocala, FL and several nieces and nephews. 

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday July 15, 2017, at 11:00am in the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Seth McClymonds, Jr., officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Smethport. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorial contributions, if desired, can be made First United Methodist Church or to the charity of the donor's choice.
