James "Jim" P. Gallagher, 93, a lifelong resident of the area, died peacefully in his home on Sunday, June 25, 2017.
Born July 12, 1923 in Bradford, he was a son of the late Paul and Mable C. (Benson) Gallagher.
Mr. Gallagher was a 1942 graduate of Bradford High School. After high School he enlisted in the United States Navy, served during WW II, and was honorably discharged.
On June 18, 1949, in Bradford, he married Marjorie (Swarm) Gallagher who died June 14, 2009.
He had been employed by Kendall Motor Oil CO. in the multigraph department for over 40 years. He enjoyed bowling and had bowled in the Sunday Night mixed league at Byllie Lanes and later in the Case Cutlery League.
Jim was a member of the Emanuel Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher, the property committee for two years and other various programs at church. He volunteered with the Red Cross through the Meals on Wheels program, and was a member of the American Legion.
He loved to garden, hunt and fish. He was a natural carpenter and loved to build things. He also loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren,
Surviving are three children, a daughter, Wendy Ann Gallagher, of Boulder, CO, two sons, Stephen (Nancy Brown) Gallagher, of Boyinton Beach, FL, and Kevin Gallagher, of Bradford,three grandchildren,Kristen, Anna and Sean and four great grandchildren, CJ, Cole Christian, and Ariyah, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three sisters, and one brother.
Family will be receiving friends on Saturday, July 1, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 am in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc, 372 East Main Street, where funeral an committal services will be held at 11:00 with Rev. Thomas Pierotti, pastor of the Emanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.
