Daniel A. Toothman

Daniel A. Toothman, a loving son, father, and grandfather, 66, of Knapp Creek, NY, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Olean General Hospital.

Born September 16, 1950 in Olean NY, he was a son of Franklin E. Toothman who survives and the late Evelyn M. (Hughes) Toothman.

Dan was a graduate of Olean High School and Alfred University where he received a degree in petroleum engineering.

He worked at Quaker State Refinery and was self-employed as an Oil and Gas Consultant for many years.

Dan spent a large part of his life camping, fishing, and boating with his family. He was a Federal Firearms dealer and an avid guns man. He enjoyed stock car racing, NASCAR and the Truck Series. He was a huge Harley Davidson Motorcycle enthusiast. When he was riding he always said “this is the best therapy”. He and Andrea also enjoyed many rides on the side by side. He was a lover of dogs, Brandy and Matty, his shihtzu's. Dan was a great friend to many with his outgoing captivating personality. He brought joy to people everywhere he went.

Surviving is one daughter, Amy (Shane Lewis) Toothman-Severtson, of Little Genesee NY, four grandchildren, Colby Hitchcock, Autumn Severtson, Dakota Severtson, and his name sake Harley Daniel Lewis, one great granddaughter Lillian Mae Zapel, his special companion, Andrea Thompson with whom he resided, one brother, Terry (Joseph Villone) Toothman, of Dalmatia, and one niece.

Friends are invited to attend a celebration of Dan’s life on Saturday September 30, 2017, at 1:00pm in the Knapp Creek Volunteer Fire Department. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
