Donald E. Ruffner

Donald E. Ruffner, 77, of Chapel Ridge, Bradford, passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018, at his residence.

Born May 11, 1940, in Jewett, OH, he was a son of the late James Brady and Ruth Nellie (Turner) Ruffner.

On June 12, 1966 in Canton, NJ, he married Dorothy Eileen (Zane) Ruffner who passed away September 10, 1996.

Mr. Ruffner attended Salem Business College in Florida.

On June 28, 1963, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served as a dental tech during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was honorably discharged on October 28, 1969.

Donald was a salesman for most of his life. He sold Electrolux vacuum cleaners, and also worked for the Dish TV Network. He and his wife hosted a weekly radio show called the Noteworthy Gospel Show in Lynchburg, VA in the 1990's.

He was a pro life proponent and believed in the mission of Bright Alternatives. He volunteered at the Lynchburg Pregnancy Clinic for over five years from 2005-2010.

Donald is survived by two daughters, Ruth Ann Ruffner, of Rustburg, VA. and Jennifer Joy (Joshua)  Haney, of Bradford, two grandchildren, Carly and Brady Haney of Bradford.

Mr. Ruffner was perceived in death by his parents, wife, one son, James Brady Ruffner who died in 1998.

Friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Don’s Life on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 4:00pm at the First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Joshua Haney, Pastor, and son in law officiating. At the conclusion of the service, members of the United States Army will conduct Military Honor’s.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
