Helen I Kempf

Helen I. Kempf, 91, of 117 Hemlock St., Bradford, passed away Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Olean General Hospital.

Born August 17, 1926 in Knapp Creek, NY, she was a daughter of the late John E. Smith and Ada (Pfouts) Smith. She was a 1944 graduate of Bradford High School.

On June 11, 1949 in Bradford at the Baptist Church she married John E Kempf who died November 28, 1996.

Helen worked for 31 years as a billing clerk for Owens-Illinois retiring in 1987.

She was a devoted member of Evans Memorial United Methodist Church where she served as memorial secretary, and treasurer for Sunday School. She took great pride in providing all the alter flowers for church services.

Helen had worked the polling booths in Bradford Township during the elections. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed tending to her plants and flowers.

Surviving is one sister, Charlotte Wetzel, of Elyria, OH, and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and great great grandnieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, eight brothers, three sisters, and a niece.

Family will be receiving friends on Saturday, March 17, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:30am in the Evans Memorial United Methodist Church, at 11:30am, funeral and committal services will be held with Rev. Barbara  Moore, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
