James S. Thomas

James S. Thomas, 72, of South Ave Bradford, passed away Sunday, March 18, 2018, peacefully, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born in Bradford, on February 21, 1946, he was a son of the late James "Heine" and Minnie (Stewart) Thomas.

Jim was a 1964 graduate of Bradford High School where he played basketball and was selected as Pennsylvania All State Center. He later graduated with degrees from OBI, Dyke College in Cleveland, and Dubois Business School.

He worked as a route driver for Dusk to Dawn, Airborne Express, for Smith Mail Hauling, Zimmerman-Ryan Rural Route Mail Delivery and was employed by the City of Bradford.

He had attended St. Bernard Church. He played the drums and sang in local bands for over 30 years, he enjoyed singing in local contests and going to the casino. Jim enjoyed attending local sports at Bradford Area High School and University of Pittsburgh Bradford with special friend Vic Longo.

Surviving is one sister, Carol (Burt) Jones, of Port Aransas, TX one brother, Denny (Marsha) Thomas, of Bradford, three nieces, Stephanie McCormick, of Bradford, Lindsay Thomas (Scott Cadenhead) Fort Mill, SC., Kellie (Chris) Cannon Fort Mill, SC grand-niece Natalie Cannon and grand-nephew Isaac McCormick.

Family will be receiving friends on Friday, March 23, 2018 from 4:00pm to 5:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 372 East Main St., at 5:00pm funeral services will be held with Rev. Raymond Gramata, Pastor of St. Bernard Church officiating. Burial will be with his parents in St. Bernard Cemetery.

JT loved area sports so memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Bradford Area High School Sports Boosters, or the Sports Department at the University of Pittsburgh @ Bradford Sports Department.
