Dorothy May Ransom

Dorothy May "Dotty" Ransom, 81, of 2 South Ave, formerly of 21 Edward's Street, Bradford, passed away, Monday, March 19, 2018 at her residence.

Born July 16, 1936, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late William and Elva (Devore) Cline.

On September 14, 1956, she married Richard H. "Dick" Ransom who died July 13, 1973.

Dotty was a graduate of Bradford High School.

She had been employed at Zippo, J.C.Pennys, Bradford Hospital in housekeeping and baby sat for several area families.

Mrs. Ransom was a member of the Eastern Star Mizpah of Great Valley, a member of the Emery Towers Association where she served as past secretary and ran the bingo games.

Dotty was known as the neighborhood Mom. Nearly all of her son's friends called her mom.

She loved her NASCAR races, crafting, knitting and crocheting, items she shared with her family and friends.

Surviving is a son, Jeffrey A. (Beverly) Ransom, of Cary, NC, several nieces and nephews including, Mary Kedian and Bill Johnston, friends Judy Louk and Don Bennett

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Uncle Eddy Devore, two sisters June Luzzi and Marion Johnston, a sister in law, Pat Lockett.

A Celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 10:00am in the First United Methodist Church, with Rev. Seth McClymonds, pastor officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc.
