Kathryn M. Longnecker

Kathryn M. Longnecker, 97, of 1 North Bennett Street Bradford, passed away peacefully, Monday, April 16, 2018, at Bradford Manor.

Born February 13, 1921 in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and  Michelina (Marra) Rich.

Kay was a 1939 graduate of Bradford High School, and in 1942 graduated from the Bradford Hospital School of Nursing. From 1943 to 1981 she had worked in many capacities at the Bradford Hospital concentrating in medical surgery and maternity. She had also worked as a private duty nurse.

On August 28, 1943, she married Lloyd J. Longnecker who preceded her in death on August 14, 1987.

She was a member of St. Bernard Church, the Retired Nurse's Alumni Association, and volunteered at the Friendship Table.

Kay loved her home, friends, great grand dog Luca and most especially loved her family.

Surviving are her two sons, Robert D. (Phyllis A.) Longnecker, of Bradford, and Stephen M. (Nancy M.) Longnecker, of Bowmansville, NY, three grandchildren, Emily M. Longnecker, David P. Longnecker, and, Andrew K. Longnecker, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Nancy Rizzo, and Mary E. Wentworth, three brothers, Philip, Joe and John Rich.

Family will be receiving friends on Thursday, April 19, 2018, from 4:00 - 7:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc., 33 South Ave. where a prayer service will be held at 9:30am Friday, followed by a Mass of Christian at 10:00am, in St. Bernard Church, with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as Celebrant. Entombment will be in St. Bernard Mausoleum.
