Michael Scott Walter

Michael Scott Walter, 62, of 37 Bushnell Street, passed away April 29, 2018, at his residence.

Born June 20, 1955 in Bradford, he was the first son of the late Ronald E. and Jo Ann (Costanzo) Walter.

He was a 1973 graduate of Bradford High School. For many years Mike was the statistician for both the Bradford High Owls Football and Owls Basketball teams.

Mike was employed at Futures Rehabilitation Center for over 17 years and for Carl Cavallaro at Bottle O’ Beer for 15 years. He also worked as part of the broadcast team at WESB, as a sideline reporter and statistician for over 25 years.

He participated in Special Olympics and competed in swimming, bowling, track and field, locally and at the state level.

Mike was a member of St. Bernard Church, member and past President of the Action Club of Kiwanis Club of Bradford, and a member of the Relay for Life, for the American Cancer Society.

Mike was proud of all of his many accomplishments but he was most proud of being named an Honorary Member of the Bradford City Fire Department.

Surviving are his brother and sister in law, Timothy J. and Linda S. Walter of Bradford, his loving niece Kate (LT. CMDR Chad) Workman, of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island WA, two nephews Matthew Walter of Bradford, and Benjamin Walter of Bradford, one grand-nephew Cale Workman, and many people Mike considered his closest friends.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm & 7:00pm to 9:00pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 372 East Main Street, where a prayer service will be held at 9:30am Wednesday followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St Bernard Church with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as Celebrant. Committal services and burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Mike would like to see contributions if desired, made to the Special Olympics or the Endowment Fund at Futures, 1 Futures Way, Bradford PA 16701.
