Mabel W. Watkins

Mabel W. Watkins, 93, formerly of 183 Jackson Avenue, Bradford, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018, while in the company of family members, at The Pavilion at BRMC.

Born January 16, 1925 in Knoxville, she was a daughter of the late Wilson and Mildred (Slade) Snyder.

Mabel attended Farmers Valley school and graduated from Ulysses High School in 1941.

On February 6, 1945 in Elkton MD, she married Rexford "Rex" Watkins who died five days ago, on May 15, 2018.

Mabel worked as a clerk and cashier at Sal's and Son's. She retired from Parkview Super Market. She was a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star.

Surviving is one daughter, Etta (Ken) Huss, of Port Allegany, three grandchildren, Jamie Babcock, Jeffrey Huss, and Jason Huss, several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one son Francis Watkins, and one brother Delbert Snyder.

A combined memorial service was held yesterday Monday May 21, 2018 for Mabel and her husband Rex, in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave., with Rev. Allen Young, Pastor of the East Smethport United Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in McKean Memorial Park Cemetery.

Etta, we never met, but I remember Mabel from Sal''s and Sons. We worked together for a good while and she was so friendly and kind. I am sorry for you to have lost both your parents within 5 days.
