Richard L. Chesnut

Richard L. "Rick" Chesnut, 70, of Bradford, passed away Monday, December 10, 2018, at the Bradford Manor.

Born August 9, 1948, in Punxsutawney, he was a son of the late Russel John and Phyllis (Turnbull) Chesnut. He was a 1966 graduate of Smethport High School.

On July 11, 1991 in Bradford, he married Nancy D. (Barron) Chesnut, who survives.

Rick enlisted in the United States Army on November 6, 1968, completed a one-year tour in Vietnam and spent time stationed in Missouri before being honorably discharged on September 4, 1970.

Rick was a graduate of Alfred State College with a degree in Diesel Mechanics.

He was employed as a Pumper at both Pennzoil and Minard Run Oil Company for over 30 years.

Rick loved the woods and spent time hunting, hiking and kayaking. He also enjoyed riding his 1984 Harley Davidson. He was a member of the Tuna Valley Trails Association, the National American Legion and the National Rifle Association.

Surviving in addition to his wife Nancy of 27 years, is one daughter, JoEllen (Terry) Wankel, of Bradford, two sons Stephen (Lisa) Chesnut, of Gales Ferry CT, and Joseph (Lorie) Chesnut, of Beaver, one step-daughter, Jessica (Matt) Rossi, of Charlotte NC; one brother Larry (Debbie) Chesnut of DuBois, one sister-in-law, Jeanne O’Rourke Chesnut of Altmar, NY; three step-sisters Dixie McGavisk of Smethport, Bonnie Conklin of Clarendon and Judie Kahle of Cuba; 11 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Theodore Chesnut, and one step-sister, Karla Hewitt.

At Rick's request there will no public services. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
