Anne E. Sherwin

Anne E. Sherwin, 98, a loving and devoted mother and grandmother, of Bradford, passed away, peacefully, Saturday, December 15, 2018, at The Pavilion @ BRMC. 

Born April 30, 1920 in Johnstown, she was a daughter of the late Peter J. and Nora (Moran) Hackett.

On May 30, 1951 in Johnstown she married George M. Sherwin who died November 13, 1982.

Anne was a 1937 graduate of Johnstown High School, and later graduated from Cambria Business College. She worked as a secretary at Prudential, and then later graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in 1946.

She was employed at Bethlehem Steel as a Registered Nurse from 1946 until 1951. She was a stay at home mom until 1967 and went to work at Bradford Hospital as a Registered Nurse until she retired in 1984. 

She was a member of St. Bernard Church, Catholic Women's Club, and the Bradford Senior Center. Her passion was knitting, and she enjoyed meeting weekly with her cross-stitching group of friends.
 
Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen (Joe) Lipps, of Bradford, and Christine (Paul) Cook, of Chester NY, two sons Richard (Debbie) Sherwin, of Orlando FL, and Matthew(Connie) Sherwin, of Collierville TN,  one sister, Martha (Jack) Santora, of Egg Harbor NJ, and one brother, Peter (Louise) Hackett, of Pittsburgh, eight grandchildren, one great grandson, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Elizabeth Dyer and Nora Ashman, and one brother Paul Hackett.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at Noon on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, in St. Bernard Church with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as Celebrant, Mausoleum entombment will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

The family requests donations to St. Bernard Church Building Fund, or charity of the donor's choice.
