David F. Copper, 85, of Mount Alton, passed away December 24, 2020, at Olean General Hospital.
Born on March 5, 1935, in Greensburg, he was a son of the late Frank and Sarah (Shawley) Copper. He was a 1953 graduate of Hurst High School.
After high school, Dave joined the Navy in 1954 and proudly served four years around the globe. He then continued his education receiving certification as an Air Traffic Controller. He was part of the FAA for 36 years. He retired in 1994.
Dave is survived by his wife, Nancy J. (Maline) Copper whom he wed on August 8, 1961.
He was an avid hunter who especially enjoyed hunting deer and turkey. His favorite hobby was restoring and repainting cars.
He is survived by his wife, four children, Clark Copper, of Bradford, Craig (Christine) Copper, of Canadaigua, NY, Sharon (Steven) Ferringer of Fairview, Jonathan (Nina) Copper, of Towanda; three sisters, Eleanor Lauffer, of Greensburg, Ruth (Kurt) Bue, of Export, Shirley Rain, of Phoenix, AZ, four brothers: Alex (Ann) Copper, of Jeanette, Ronald (Debbie) Copper, of Anahuac, TX, Robert (Doreen) Copper, of New Alexandria, Thomas Copper, of WV; eight grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Copper, who helped raise him, his daughter-in-law Susan (Vecellio) Copper, three sisters, two brothers.
At the family's request there will be a private service. The service will be livestreamed at www.hollenbeckcahill.com at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Lafayette Volunteer Fire Department or the Bradford Public Library.
