I spent my formative years at Bradford Regional Airport, and Dave was a staple at the FAA Flight Service Station here. I hung around the folks at the FSS when I was not flying with my dad. When I was a high school senior, still without a plan for further education, Dave and Craig invited me to join them on a trip to check out the ATC program at a college northwest of Pittsburgh. I was the one who ended up going there, picking up 2 aviation degrees and beginning a career as a professional pilot. I credit Dave for that life-changing decision. When I finally got my wings and became a flight instructor, I made it a point to fly my students (based in Williamsport) into Bradford to meet Dave and this colleagues, and to experience a real DF Steer, a direction finding procedure that only Dave and his colleagues could perform. It was a truly educational experience for my students. I will always have fond memories of Dave. Prayers and condolences to his family.
