Lori J. Petty

Lori Jean (Ortung) Petty, 57, residing in Easton, formerly of Portville, NY,  passed away suddenly Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Warren St. Luke's Hospital in Phillipsburg, NJ.

Born September 12, 1963 in Poughkeepsie, NY, she was preceded in death by her biological father William J Ortung Jr. and step-father, James L Bateski. Survived by her mother Maryellen A (Cooley) Bateski of Bradford..

Lori graduated Portville High School in 1981. She went on to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She graduated as a registered Dental Assistant. She most recently worked as a dental assistant at Oral Dynamics. Lori loved being there for her patients and making them feel comfortable. She also helped during 9/11 to help identify persons that had perished. The dental field has such rarely been met with organization and compassion as hers, she will be sorely missed by all who worked with her.

Lori really enjoyed creating gourmet meals for her family and friends and was exquisite at making them smile through their stomachs. Her apple crumb pie and assorted Christmas cookies were family favorites. She loved to be in nature and golfing was probably her favorite sport to play, she dreamed of being on the senior tour circuit. Lori also loved the Pittsburgh Steelers and playing in the dirt. She loved to garden and adored doing so with her granddaughter.

Survived by one daughter, Erin C McCarthy and grandchildren Chloe Jeanne McCarthy and Draven McCarthy-Torres of Allentown, one brother, Timothy (Tammy) Ortung of South Carolina, and three sisters, Vanessa (David) Hammond, of Portville, NY, Kathy (the late Kevin) McBride, of West Seneca, NY and Robin (Matthew) Ridenour, of Bradford, and lots of nieces and nephews.

There will be no funeral services at this time. Friends will be invited to a memorial service that will be announced at a later date.

Funeral arraignments are under the direction of Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
