Ronald D. Kessel

Ronald D. Kessel, 79, of Leonard Run, Limestone, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born December 13, 1941 in Olean, he was a son of the late Marvin B. and Edyth E. (Pfouts) Kessel. He was a 1963 graduate of Limestone High School.

On July 10, 1962, he enlisted in the United States Army. He served 11 months in Vietnam. He was awarded the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal and honorably discharged on July 9, 1965. He remained in the reserves until July 9, 1968.

On December 21, 1963 in the Limestone United Methodist Church, he married Victoria C. (Marvin) Kessel, who died June 7, 2005.

Ron worked for many years at Graham Packaging and retired in 2003. While retired he worked at Walmart, and later as a security guard at Zippo and Bradford Regional Medical Center.

He was a member of the Limestone United Methodist Church, a life member of the Limestone Volunteer Fire Department, and the Limestone American Legion.

Surviving is one daughter, Shana (Charles) Doner, of Salamanca, one son Pastor Dr. Eric (Sharon) Kessel, of Bradford, four grandchildren, E. Blain (Megan Burkhard) Kessel, Angela Kessel, Dakota Colts, and Jaissee Mohr, two sisters, Barbara (Don) Scacchi of Limestone, and Sherry (Mike) Sutherland of Derrick City, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, infant Stephen Kessel and Dennis Kessel, and Jeff Kessel.

Friends are invited to attend a memorial service on Saturday May 29, 2021, at 11:00 am in the Limestone United Methodist Church with Pastor Dr. Eric Kessel of the Farmerville Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Limestone Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the Limestone Volunteer Fire Department or a charity of the donor's choice.
