Merle L. Clark

Merle L. "Moe" Clark, 96, formerly of 21 Willis Avenue, Bradford, passed away Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Granger Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, in Granger, Iowa. He resided here for one and a half years to be near his daughter after residing with her for 4 years.

Born October 14, 1924 in Bradford, he was a son of the late George and Hazel (Boardman) Clark.

He was a 1942 graduate of Bradford High School and received training from Penn State University in Management Development.

He served in the Navy during WWII.

On July 22, 1950 in the First Baptist Church, he married Betty J. (Louk) Clark who preceded him in death on May 20, 1997. 

Merle worked as a machinist at Bradford Motor Works and Trico Industries.

He was a member and Past President of Greater Bradford Senior Activity Center, he coached Little League baseball, and Volunteered to serve as an Ombudsman for McKean County Seniors. 

Surviving is one daughter, Kristy (Dave) Grove, of Urbandale, IA, seven grandchildren, Bridgot Hernan, Shawn McCleary, Sara Merrill, John Grove, Richard Grove, Heather Campbell and Jennifer Gayton, 12 great-grandchildren, and one brother, Ted Clark, of Hughesville, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Karen McCleary, one son Terry Clark and one sister, June Oleska, and four brothers, Walter Clark, Gilbert Clark, Ernie Clark,and Leon Clark.

Friends will be received on Thursday April 22, 2021, from 10am to Noon in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 33 South Avenue, at Noon funeral and committal services will be held with Rev. Rob Hernan, Pastor of the United Methodist Church of Smethport officiating. Covid protocols will be observed. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
