Rita D. Leone

Rita D. Leone, 93, of 1523 South Avenue, Lewis Run, passed away Friday, May 7, 2021, at Penn Highlands Hospital, in Clearfield, with her family by her side.

Born March 6, 1928 in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Luigi and Mary (Tartarella) Mongillo. She was a 1946 graduate of St. Bernard School.

On July 12, 1950 in St. Bernard Church, she married James Leone who preceded her in death May 28, 1965.

Rita had been employed as a cashier at Producers Bank and Trust, the Oxford Shoppe and Man's World.

She was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, Catholic Girl’s Club, Frances Sherman Auxiliary, and she had volunteered at the Bradford Central Christian High School library.

Rita excelled at playing scrabble, enjoyed crossword puzzles, watching Penn State and Buffalo Bills football and watching golf tournaments.

Surviving are three daughters, Kathy (Scott) Buckenmeyer, of Swanton. OH, Karen (Daniel) Dzenkowski, of State College, and Karla (George Ruggles) Leone, of Lewis Run, seven grandchildren, Jamie Dzenkowski, Daniel Dzenkowski, Bryan Dzenkowski, Shelley Dzenkowski, Rob Yohe, Jason Yohe and Renee Gleason, three great grandchildren, Sophie Dzenkowski, Hudson Dzenkowski, Helen Dzenkowski, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers, Angelo Mongillo, and Tom Mongillo, three sisters, Ella Romano, Angie Copley, and Rose Yaros.

Family will receive friends on Thursday May 13, 2021, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 372 East Main Street, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30 PM in St. Bernard Church, with Fr. Jim Gutting, Senior Associate, as Celebrant. Masks and social distancing will be required at St. Bernard Church. Burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.
