James Ed Mackey

James "Ed" Mackey, 89, of 33 Clark Drive, Bradford, passed away Friday, August 20, 2021, at The Pavilion @ BRMC.

Born in Brookville, on September 27, 1931, he was a son of the late Thomas L. and Aldine Leah (Zimmerman) Mackey. He was a 1950 graduate of Bradford High School.

Ed enlisted in the United States Air Force on August 12, 1952, and served with the 3396th Stu Squadron. He was discharged on August 11, 1956 receiving an honorable discharge.

On December 24, 1952, he married Shirley (Garwood) Mackey who died December 17, 1993. 

He was employed at Boviard & Seafang Company, and later at Clark Brothers in Olean. Ed retired as Assistant Plant Manager in 1991 after 37 years of service. 

Ed was a member of Hill Memorial United Methodist Church. 
 
Surviving is one daughter, Deborah (Greg) Hogue, of Bradford, three step children, Barb Burgess and Brent Burgess, both of Bradford, and Rodney Burgess of Lytle TX, five grandchildren, Dennis Hogue, Kyley (Amy) Hogue and Jason (Jenna) Hogue, Brent Raabe, Joseph "Joey" (Steph) Leo III, nine great grandchildren, Nicolas Hogue, Kyler Hogue, Kiara Hogue, Jordan Hogue, Jacob Hogue, Jaydon Hogue, Samantha Miller, Brianna Leo, and Isabella Leo, and one great-great gandchild Jayda Hogue.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, his companion of over 20 years Carolyn Burgess who died September 26, 2018, one daughter Susan Raabe, one grandson Todd Hogue, and one brother Thomas Mackey.

Services are private and at the convenience of family with Rev. Jay Tennies, pastor of the Hill Memorial United Methodist Church officiating. Committal services followed by Military Honor's by members of the United States Air Force and the Honor Guard from the American Legion Post 108 of Bradford will be held in McKean Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

I felt so blessed when Ed came into our lives. He was a wonderful step Dad and made us felt welcomed and loved. He was funny and so caring. I will cherish all the memories I have and keep him close . Thanks for bringing our two families together. To the family I know we will miss him but we have each other to help us get through the tough times and celebrate him in the good times. Love you all
