Frances H. Butler

Frances “Franny” H. Butler, 89, of 10 York Street, Bradford, went to be with her heavenly father on Wednesday, October 13, 2021.

Born on July 30, 1932, in Rew, she was a daughter of the late F. Paul and Mary S. (Chute) Hughes.

She attended Rew Rixford School, Otto Eldred High before graduating from Coudersport High School.

Franny was a member of First Free Methodist Church, and was a born again Christian. She enjoyed reading, keeping her home nice inside and out, and spending time with her family. She had many friends.

She worked at W. R. Case Cutlery for 29 years. After she retired, she volunteered for Hospice, and the American Red Cross, as a registered caregiver.

Surviving are two daughters, Evelyn Switzer, of Eldred, Amy Shembeda, of Bradford, one son, James (Karen) Butler, of Bradford, six grandchildren Craig Switzer Jr., Christina Switzer, Meggan Shembeda, Michelle (Jeremy) Wedge, Jacob Shembeda and Jennifer Butler Gonzalez, eight great grandchildren, Elisha, Dustin, Gabrella, and Kristen Baldwin, Emily Shembeda, McKayla Wedge, Keggan Hartzell and Adrianna Gonzalez, one great-great granddaughter Lydia Davis, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and spouses, Paul and Freda Hughes, Boyd and Ruth Hughes, and Marie and Clair Stahlman, and two nephews.

Family will receive friends on Saturday October 16, 2021 from 10:00am to Noon in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 33 South Ave., where funeral service will be held with Pastor Jim Lenaway, of the B-Free Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will follow in the McKean Memorial Park.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the B-Free Methodist Church, The Salvation Army or the Bradford Mennonite Church.
