Richard A. Wilson

Richard Arthur Wilson, 89, of Genesee, formerly of Aiken, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed into eternal glory at UPMC Charles Cole, on Monday November 29, 2021, following a brief illness.

Born July 8, 1932, in New Lebanon, OH, he was a son of the late Robert and Marie A. (Davis) Wilson.

Always one to serve others he was very active in Boy Scouts, and proudly achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.

After graduating from Monroe High School in 1951, he served honorably in the United States Army from 1952 until 1954. Discharged at the rank of corporal and with the National Defense Service Medal, he then attended college in Westerville, OH where he met the love of his life, Carol Peterson. They were married September 21, 1957, in Westerville OH.

Moving to PA in 1958 he was employed as a schedular at Owens Illinois (Georgia Pacific) for 34 years, retiring in 1992.

Never one to slow down he continued his woodworking, golfing, fishing, camping and volunteering at BRMC, having the gift of making everyone he met smile.

Moving to his daughter’s farm in 2017, he expanded his love of the outdoors to all things homesteading.

Mr. Wilson attended West Branch United Methodist Church and was a trustee and a choir member. He also attended Lafayette Evangelical Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife Carol of 64 years, two daughters, Carrie Marie (Mark) Hopkins, of Conway AR, and Amy Jo (the late Jack) Hewitt of Genesee, one son, Daniel Kevin (Lori) Wilson, of Spencer MA, three grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters and one son-in-law Jack.

Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 3 pm at the Harrison Valley Alliance Church with Rev. Kevin Cornish, Pastor, officiating. To livestream this service please go to facebook.com/hvalliance.
