James M. Crowley

James Michael Crowley, 83, of 5466 Route 59, Lewis Run, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021, at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born April 3, 1938, in Bradford, he was the son of the late Howard J. and Catherine (Long) Crowley. He was a 1956 graduate of Bradford Area High School. 

On August 19, 1961, in St. Francis of Assisi Church, before Monsignor G. Carlton Ritchie, he married Janet Patricia (Winkler) Crowley, who survives.

Jim worked as an auto-mechanic at several dealerships in Bradford. He spent many years as an oil field contractor for several companies including, Pennzoil, Kinzua Energy Development, and Minard Run Oil Company.

Jim was a member of the National Rifle Association, and he was a former volunteer fireman for the Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Janet of 60 years, are three children, Lynn (Tony) Height of Youngsville, NC, Michael (Holly) Crowley of Smethport, and Joseph (DiAnne) Crowley of Limestone, NY, seven grandchildren Michael (Kendall) Rinfrette of Kernersville, NC, Taylor Stephen of Youngsville, NC, Alex Height and Megan Height of Wake Forest, NC, Brooke Morgan and Alan Yeager of Smethport, Kyle Crowley (Danelle) of Allegany, NY and Kevin Crowley of Limestone, NY, six great-grandchildren, one sister Joanne (David) Schenkman, of Maryland, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Betty Jean Crowley and one brother, David Howard Crowley.

A private service was held for family with Fr. Jim Gutting, Senior Associate of St. Francis Church, officiating.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the Lafayette Township Volunteer Fire Department, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
