Andrew "Andy" Joseph Pingie, 47, of 918 West Washington Street, entered eternity, with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, December 1, 2021, at home, surrounded by his loving family. He fought a courageous battle with brain cancer. The only scars in heaven are on the hands that hold him now.
Born August 10, 1974, in St. Francis Hospital, in Olean, NY, Andy was the son of the late Allen J. Pingie and Beth Tingue Monti, who survives.
On October 9, 2019, he married the true love of his life, Christene Kaper-Pingie, who survives. Together over the past eight years they enjoyed weekend mornings sitting on the porch with a cup of coffee, or going for a ride in his red 1923 T. Bucket.
He was a proud father of two daughters, Sarah Jade (Brock) Blovsky, of Olean, NY, and Faith Logan Pingie, of Bradford, whom he always made their lives a priority. They called him their "girl dad" because he loved doing all the girly things with them, even watching chick flicks. He also holds a special place in the hearts of all their friends who loved being around him.
Andy was always a hard worker from the age of 14, working after school at the hospital, and summers at Bradford Township and Pennhills.
After graduating from Bradford Area High School in 1991, he was employed with Allegheny Bradford Corporation where he learned his trade as a welder. From there he worked at Dresser Rand, in Olean, later joining Bradford Forest Products in 2000. One of his greatest accomplishments was designing and fabricating a portable collapsing bridge for Bradford Forest Products. In 2007 he began employment at Dresser Manufacturing, in Bradford, where he worked as a welder until February 2021, leaving due to his declining health. There he held positions of steward and recording secretary in the John F. Kennedy Union Lodge No. 1644.
He was a self-taught fabricator of wrought iron and many of his creations and designs are at many homes in the areas as well as the ones he enjoyed doing at Glendorn. Andy was known for his gift of gab and quick wit and humor. He could strike up a conversation with complete strangers and was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He was a member of St. Bernard Church.
Also surviving is Scott Allen Pingie (Julie Schoeneman), of Bradford, Michael B. Monti, of Bradford, Melissa K. Monti Young (Stafford), of NC, Lynn M. Monti Malling, of NC, Patrick C Monti (Heather), of Bradford, Jeffrey Gabel (Cathy), of Bradford, and Jodie Gabel, of Lewis Run, stepmother, Debbie Pingie, of Lewis Run, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Harold and Helen Tingue, paternal grandparents, John and Margurite Pingie, his father Al Pingie, stepfather Bruce Monti, and uncles, Paul N. Pingie and F. Scott Tingue.
Friends will be received on Monday, December 6, 2021, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., 372 East Main Street, Bradford.
