Mary Marasco Galey

Mary Marasco Galey, 90, of Bradford, passed away on Monday, December 20, 2021 at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.

Born on April 15, 1931, in Cleveland, OH, she was a daughter of the late Elizabeth (Kriegel) and Leo Martin Healey. She was a 1949 graduate of Bradford Area High School.

On May 23, 1953, at St. Bernard Church she married Joseph Marasco who died on June 22, 1994. In 2002, she married Robert D. Galey who preceded her in death on August 28, 2015.

Mary was a valued employee and manager at Sears and Roebuck for 30 years until her retirement. Mary also enjoyed managing her family’s restaurant, Joseph’s.

Mary enjoyed bowling in the Thursday night league, playing the piano, music, singing, dining out, watching The Sound of Music and attending mass. She was also known for being an avid baseball fan. However, her greatest love was being a mother and spending time with her family. Her quick wit and great sense of humor will be sadly missed; to know her was to love her.

She was a member of St. Bernard Church, Valley Hunt Club, Bradford Club, Pennhills Club and was a Co Campaign Chairperson for the United Way.

Surviving is her daughter Kathleen (Keith Mahon) Obermeyer of Bradford, four sons; Joseph Marasco of Bradford, Stephen (Bridget) Marasco of Monument, CO, Robert (Julie) Marasco of Bradford, and John (Natalie) Marasco of Bradford; one stepdaughter Susan Ruby and two stepsons David Galey and William Galey.

Mary had nine grandchildren, Michael (Meghan) Marasco, Allyson (Ryan McCammon) Marasco, Daniel Marasco, Richard (Kelsey) Obermeyer, Johnathan Obermeyer, Madison Marasco, Mary Anne Obermeyer-Winkie, Eric (Suzi) Marasco, and Elizabeth Marasco; eight great grandchildren, Joseph (Kristen) Winkie, Olivia Winkie, Leo and Sophia Marasco, Kennedy and Lainey Marasco, Tycen and Gavyn McCammon; two great-great grandchildren, Finnley and Summit Winkie.

In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by one sister Alice Humphries.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, at 10:00 am at St. Bernard Church with Rev. Raymond Gramata, pastor as Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the United Way of the Bradford Area, PO Box 504, Bradford PA, 16701, or a charity of the donor's choice.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
