Alan Gordon

Alan Gordon, 85, of 37 Stone Ave., Bradford, died peacefully at Bradford Regional Medical Center on May 17, 2022, following a late-stage diagnosis of cancer.

He was born in Buffalo, NY, in 1937, a son of the late Alex and Elizabeth Margaret “Maggie” Gordon. The family moved to McKean County when he was young.

Al attended Bradford schools from elementary through high school. He studied accounting at Bryant and Stratton College, graduating in 1958, and served in the US National Guard from 1959 to 1965.

He joined the George H. Daggett accounting firm in Bradford in 1959 and assumed ownership of the company in the early 1980s. He retired in 2010.

Al is survived by his wife of 60 years, Nancy Gordon; and by his daughter, Gretchen Gordon, and grandsons, Ian Gordon and Giles Gordon, all of Pembroke, ME. His family made him laugh and made him proud. Another joy was spending time with Sarah Savage of Phoenix, AZ, the life partner of his late son, Greg Gordon.

Aside from his family, Al’s favorite things in life were traveling, maintaining the lawn and flowerbeds around the house, following sports of every type, and spending time at St. Simons Island, GA.

Al was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Ian Gordon; and his son, Greg, the last being a loss that never healed.

Services will be private, with a celebration of Al’s life planned for a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.

Memorial contributions, if desired, can be made to the Gordon Family Scholarship Fund at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford or to a charity of choice.
