Edward J. Lyons

Edward J. Lyons, 75, a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, of 123 Sweitzer Drive, Duke Center, passed away Monday, June 13, 2022, surrounded by his family.

Born December 31, 1946, in Bradford he was a son of the late James E. Lyons and Georgieanna L. (Powers) Lyons Abers. He was a 1964 graduate of Bradford High School.

On February 28, 1966, he enlisted in the United States Army, he was stationed in Korea and was Honorably discharged on February 20, 1969.

On September 6, 1975, in Derrick City, he married Darlene L. (Willard) Lyons who survives.

He had been employed at Piper Well Service, Sand Surveys, Rink Brothers as a mechanic, and later went to work at United States Postal Service in Turtlepoint, he worked his way up to Postmaster at the Lewis Run Office. He retired in 2006 after 35 years of service.

Ed was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, Masonic Lodge 749 F&AM, 32 Degree member Coudersport Consistory, and the Otto Township Lions Club and served as Treasurer for many years.

Surviving in addition to his wife Darlene of 48 years, are two daughters, Dorette (Robert) McCracken, of Mt. Jewett, and Donya (Nathan) Mealy, of Bradford, five grandchildren, Gage Lyons-McCracken, Colten McCracken, Tynan McCracken, Hattie Mealy, Tessla Mealy, one sister, Linda (Mike Arnold) Exley, of Hamlin, NY, one brother, Ronald (Tammy) Lyons, of Coudersport, and several nieces and nephews.

Family will receive friends on Friday June 17, 2022, from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 pm in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 372 East Main St., where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday with Rev. Bruce Kumher, Pastor of the First Baptist Church of Kane, officiating, followed by Military Honor's by members of the United States Army and the Honor Guard from the American Legion. Burial will follow in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Members of the Masonic Lodge will conduct a service at 6:00 pm in the funeral home.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to Coudersport Consistory, or the Otto Township Lions Club.
