Joseph A. Bishop

Joseph A. Bishop, 68, of State Street, Bradford, passed away at home, Friday, June 17, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Born November 10, 1953, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Owen B. "Skip" and Mary Lou (Julian) Bishop. He graduated from Bradford High School.

On November 16, 1974, in Bradford, he married Linda (Crooks) Bishop who survives.

Joe formerly owned and operated Bishop's Auto Repair on Minard Run, for 16 years. He later worked at Ferrontek, Kessel Construction, and prior to his retirement he was employed for 12 years at Napoleon Engineering in Olean.

Joe was talented in many ways. He had a love for music at an early age. He was a guitarist and member of two bands. He had his own band in the early 1990's called Rockland. He also instilled the love for music in his sons. Joe was also a talented auto mechanic and he loved to restore classic cars. He owned many but his favorites he took great pride in were his 1964 Chevrolet Impala, and the 1969 Dodge Super Bee.

Surviving in addition to his wife Linda, of 47 years, are three sons, Joseph A. Bishop Jr., Michael A. Bishop, and Dustin C. Bishop, all of Bradford, nine grandchildren, Maddix, Mike Jr., Alexis, Carson, Sydney, Katelyn, Logan, Abby, and Raeel, one great granddaughter, Maisyn, one sister, Denise Newman, two brothers, Larry Bishop, and Kevin Bishop, all of Bradford, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Kevin Lee Bishop, and one sister Karla "Mickie" Bishop Martin.

Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 23, 2022, from 4pm to 6pm at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave., followed by funeral services with Rev. Rick Nelson, Pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to the American Cancer Society 2115 West 38th St. Erie, PA 16508.
