Mary H. Murphy

Mary H. Murphy, 88, of Custer City, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2022, at
Bradford Regional Medical Center.

Born March 12, 1934, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Stephen
and Mary (Platko) Hvizdzak Sr. She attended Custer City schools and was
a 1953 graduate of St Bernard High School.

On August 23, 1958 in Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church in Lewis Run,
she married Thomas F. Murphy who preceded her in death on February 3,
2001.

Mary had been employed for 38 years with the Title I Reading Program as
an operations and support specialist under the direction of the late Dr. Mary
Swarts and Edith Urban.

Mary was a member of Our Mother of Perpetual Help Church, the Bradford
Lions Club, and served as volunteer secretary for Our Mother of Perpetual
Help.

Surviving is one daughter, Michele (John) Hannahs, of Bradford, one son,
Timothy (Cathy) Murphy, of Columbus, OH, five grandchildren, Jacob
Hannahs, Maria Murphy, Benjamin Murphy, Henry Murphy, and Theodore
Murphy, one brother, Paul (the late Connie) Hvizdzak, of Randolph, NY, one sister-in-law, Jean Hvizdzak, of Bradford, and several nieces and nephews.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, husband Tom, of 42 years,
and two brothers, Stephen Hvizdzak Jr., and Peter J. (the late Rose) Hvizdzak.

Friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial that will be
celebrated at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, August 3, 2022, in Our Mother of
Perpetual Help Church in Lewis Run, with Fr. Jim Gutting as celebrant.
Committal services and burial will follow in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorial contributions if desired may be made to a charity of the donors
choice.
