Julia W. Hayes

Julia W. Hayes, 85, of Bradford, passed away Wednesday, July 9, 2025, surrounded by her loving family at the Pavilion at BRMC.

Born October 19, 1939, in Mt. Pleasant, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Julia (Owad) Warzinski.

Julia was a 1957 graduate of Hempfield Area High School in Greensburg, and she completed several business courses after high school.

On March 10, 1962, in Hartford CT she married John W. Hayes Jr. who preceded her in death on May 3, 2018. 

She worked as a secretary, in the health care field, as a sitter for home bound older people. She also volunteered for many organizations throughout her life. 

Julia was a member of St. Bernard Church, she enjoyed reading, sewing, writing notes or cards to loved ones, receiving correspondence, photography, word search puzzles, playing cards, water aerobics, and socializing with others. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren very much, she enjoyed learning about their lives and spending time with them.

Surviving is one daughter, Jessica (Steven) Hervatin, of Lewis Run, two sons John W. (Claudia) Hayes III, of Bad Schwalbach, Germany and George M. (Laura) Hayes, of Limestone, NY, five grandchildren, Christopher (Kira) Hayes of Germany, Marc (Miriam) Hayes of Germany, Zachary (Samantha) Hayes of Limestone, Mackenzie (Dalton) Little of Bradford, and Jered Hayes of Allegany NY, several great grandchildren, one brother Joseph P. (Genevieve) Warzinski, of Glen Burnie Maryland, several nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and great grandchildren.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, husband John of 56 years, and six siblings.

Family will receive friends on Friday, July 18, 2025, from 10 to 11AM in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Ave., where at 11:00 am funeral services will be held with Rev. John Jacquel, Pastor of St. Bernard Church officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Peyton Kirk Scholarship Foundation or the Staff SGT Carl Enis Scholarship Foundation at the McKean County Community Foundation, P.O. Box 708 Bradford PA 16701. Or possibly you could just visit a shut in, send a handwritten note to someone to lift up their spirits, check on a neighbor or friend, or lend a smile to a stranger exemplifying God's love for all.
