Donald R. "Dick" Hoover, 89, of South Kendall Avenue, Bradford, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Bradford Ecumenical Home.
Born April 4, 1936, in Connellsville, he was a son of the late David R. and Elizabeth (Kemp) Hoover. He was a 1954 graduate of Connellsville High School.
On May 25, 1957, in Connellsville, he married Jo Ann (Forsythe) Hoover, who survives.
Dick was employed at Bell Telephone Company, later at Verizon as a Switchman and Splicer from which he retired after 40 years. He was a member of the Bell Pioneers.
He was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, King Solomon Lodge # 346 F&AM in Connellsville, and received his 50-year pin. He was an avid golfer, and was a member of the Smethport Country Club, he and his wife golfed in the Thursday Smethport Couples League, and the Traveling Couples League.
Surviving in addition to his wife Jo Ann of 68 years, are four sons, Keith (Lisa Kuret) Hoover, of Limestone, NY, Todd (Karen) Hoover, of Rotunda West FL., Brett (Holly Suit) Hoover of Boise ID, and Gregg (Susan) Hoover, of Bradford, six grandchildren, Dr. Scott Hoover, Kara Bodkin, Michael Hoover, Andrew Hoover, Kelsey Hoover, and Tripp Hoover, seven great grandchildren, one sister, Joyce Auer, of Mt. Pleasant, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and nine brothers and sisters.
At Dick’s request, there will be no public services. Private funeral services will be held for family in the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc., with Rev. John Kearns, Pastor of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
