Benito “Ben” Nuzzo, 90, of Smethport, passed away Monday, September 28, 2026, at his residence with his family by his side.
Born in Cervino, Italy on February 16, 1936, he was a son of the late Alfonso and Lucia (Piscitelli) Nuzzo.
Ben was educated in Italy and came to this country after graduating from High School.
He began working as a carpenter for the Carpenters Union Local. He worked on
projects like the Kinzua Dam construction and the Bradford Hospital construction. In 1982 he bought Thrifty Cleaners on Chamber Street where he provided tailoring services until he retired.
On February 17, 1973, in St. Bernard Church, he married Jacqueline L. (Vecellio) Nuzzo who survives.
Ben loved farming his property, he was a Beekeeper, he enjoyed gardening and
completing jigsaw puzzles.
He was a former member of the Belles and Beaus Square dance group, but most of all he loved spending time with his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed going for coffee and lunch at the Congress Street Diner and Kennedy Street Cafe.
Surviving in addition to his wife Jackie of 53 years, is one daughter, Lisa Pratt, of Port Allegany, two sons Dennis (Vera) Miller, of Punta Gorda FL, and Benjamin L. Nuzzo, of Smethport, one sister, Carmela Tierney, and one brother, Alfred (Anneke) Nuzzo, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Lonnie B. Nuzzo who died August 29, 1994, four brothers and six sisters.
Private services are planned for family with Rev. Max Simms, Pastor of the Hilltop Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in McKean Memorial Park.
